Q1: What is MMS?

The nomenclature Master of Management Studies abbreviated as MMS, is the two-year, full-time Post Graduate Management programme offered by the renowned B-School St. Francis Institute of Management & Research (SFIMAR) which is permanently affiliated to Mumbai University. MMS is equivalent to MBA and it is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and recognized by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Government of Maharashtra. DTE Code: 3119.

Q2: Can I know about St Francis Institute of Management and Research (SFIMAR)?

St. Francis Institute of Management & Research (SFIMAR) was established in 2002 by 'The Society of the Congregation of Franciscan Brothers' to impart quality education in the field of Business Management. It is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, recognized by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) and has been granted permanent affiliation by the University of Mumbai. SFIMAR is an 'A' accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and is recognized under Section 2 (f) & 12 (B) of UGC Act 1956. Q4: What is the current student intake for MMS?

The intake is 180 students.

Q5: What is the course structure for the MMS programme?

MMS programme is spread over four semesters (2 semesters in each year) as per the guidelines of the University of Mumbai. The first year subjects are common across all specializations and second year is based on the choice of different specialization offered. For detailed course outline, please refer to the MMS Admission brochure 2020-22 available in SFIMAR website.

Q6: When should I apply for the MMS programme?

You can contact our MMS administrative department and visit our campus any time after your entrance examination preferably Maharashtra Common Entrance Test 'MAH-CET'. At this juncture 'stay safe at home and strictly follow the Central/State Government directives. Most of your required information will be available in our Website. Later when things become normal, you are welcome to SFIMAR campus and our Staff will be happy to welcome you and answer all your queries. You will be taken for a campus tour too. If you are interested you can register your details in our admin office for Institutional Quota Seats. You may visit the website link www.sfimar.org/register , complete the details and submit.

The Lists of Facilitation Centers will be displayed in the Website by Admission Regulating Authorities towards the third week of April (subject to prevailing situations in the wake of coronavirus pandemic). It is mandatory for all candidates to register their details and complete the verification of documents through any one of the Facilitation Centers. If everything goes well; admission process may start in the month of May 2020.

The Admission Regulating authority also banned some of the entrance test for the All India Candidates and others.

The admissions to the MMS course are as per the Admission Regulatory Authority (ARA)/CET Cell/DTE Rules and conducted through the Centralized Admission Procedure (CAP Round). Q7: Can I apply for the programme directly at the Institute?

You can apply for Institutional Seats and Against the CAP - Vacant/Cancellation seats offline if you are registered for the CAP round and fulfill other criteria laid down by CET Cell/ARA/DTE for the admissions. To know about institute level admissions, you can visit the Institute for details. However, at this juncture stay safe at home and strictly follow the Central/State Government directives. Most of your required information will be available in our Website. Q8: How should I apply for the Institutional and Against CAP - Vacant/Cancellation seats?

The dates for issue and submission of forms will be prescribed and notified in the Newspaper, Institute Notice Board and on the website. During these dates Candidate can visit the Institute campus on any working day from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 am to 5.30 pm to apply Institutional or against the CAP - Vacant/Cancellation seats. Candidate can purchase Application Form by paying Application fee of Rs 1500/- in Cash/DD/Online or Candidate can download the form from the Institute website & filled up form should be submitted to the Institute through Courier or any other possible mode along with Rs.1500/-Demand Draft/Cash or with the proof of online payment. The online details are provided below. Since it is a merit based admissions you should apply early and keep connected with admin department.

Q9: If I missed the last deadline, can I still apply?

If you have missed the last deadline, we recommend you to contact our office during the working hours 9.00 am to 5.30 pm including Sunday and Holidays. If cancellations occur, we may still consider your application as per the ARA/DTE Rules. The applications will be assessed on merit.

Q10: Am I eligible for seeking admission to MMS programme?

We follow the Admission Procedure guidelines laid down by ARA/CET Cell/ DTE.

Basic requirements for MMS admissions are:

The candidate possesses minimum 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of candidate of backward class categories and persons with disability belonging to Maharashtra State Only) in any Bachelor's degree awarded by a recognized University.

Candidate should have appeared for MAH-MBA/MMS CET2020 or CMAT/ CAT2020 prescribed / notified by CET Cell/ARA/DTE for that particular academic year.

Entrance exam score is necessary for admission to MMS Programme. The CAP vacant/cancellation seats and Institutional Seats of the institute are also filled on the merit of the entrance exam scores.

Q11: The MMS programme is offered in many B-Schools affiliated to University of Mumbai. Why should I opt for doing MMS programme at St Francis Institute of Management and Research (SFIMAR)?

Apart from offering the common curriculum prescribed by the University of Mumbai, the MMS Programme at SFIMAR, stands apart in many ways with the focus on transforming the graduates not only to a Post Graduate but also to a holistic personality. The MMS programme also aims at building in the students the employability skills tactically and the entrepreneurial skills strategically. We call them as differentiators. They are

(a) Inculcating Interactive/Participatory mode rather than just passive lecturing mode.

(c) Offering multiple certificate programs adding on to the University based common curriculum, Industry Guest Lectures and much more to enhance the respective specializations/skills in students. Various certificate programs are Youth Leadership and People Skills (YLPS) in association with TISS, Foundation of Equity and Stock Trading in association with NISM, Digital Marketing in association with Skill wise Solutions, HR Management System & Process Automation and HR Analytics, Data Visualization, Internet of Things (I.O.T), Financial Modelling, Financial Statement Analysis, Project Management and Basic & Advanced MS Excel Skills.

(d) Providing opportunity to contribute to the societal development through the association with organizations like Indian Development Foundation(IDF) in the life skills training to underprivileged school children, association with University of Mumbai's DLLE in various lifelong and extension activities, and other socially relevant activities conducted through the Institute Social Responsible (I.S.R) club namely SFIMAR's Abhimaan ISR club.

(e) Providing opportunities to Study Abroad through SFIMAR's association with International Universities like Binary University-Malaysia, Ottawa University-Kansas City, USA.

(f) Organizing visits to Industries/Companies both National and International and visits to Universities Internationally. Please note SFIMAR is the B School in Mumbai which started organizing the International visits since 2010 and has executed visits to countries like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi.

(g) Encouraging the students to participate in various extra-curricular and co-curricular activities both in house and external, resulting in the students achieving many laurels, receiving accolades, prizes, trophies, mementoes, certificates and other pleasantries. Q12: Is SFIMAR Christian Minority Institute?

Yes. SFIMAR is a Religious (Christian) Minority Institute. Applicant should be domiciled in Maharashtra. Out of 120 seats, 51% seats are reserved for the Christian minority candidates of Maharashtra State. In case of any seats remain vacant at any point of time, other category candidates will be accommodated as per the admission regulations.

Q13: Is Scholarship available for Minority Students?

Yes, As per the Government norms & regulations if candidate produces income certificate ( income not exceeding INR 8 lakhs ) of his/her parents for the Financial year 2019-20 at the time of Cap round admission, candidate will be required to pay only 50% of tuition fee fixed by FRA. Q14: What is the Selection Process of MMS Programme?

The admissions to the MMS programme are strictly done on the basis of the selection process mentioned in the Information Brochure available on the CET Cell website i.e. www.mahacet.org The candidates who are allotted St. Francis Institute of Management and Research are required to produce all the original certificates mentioned in the MMS Admission form & MMS Admission brochure. Remember the DTE Code 3119 - St. Francis Institute of Management and Research. Note: If a candidate fails to submit the original certificates and prescribed fee within the deadline, the admission shall be treated as cancelled. Q15: What are the documents required for reserved category students?

Students belonging to the reserved category are required to submit the following documents at the time of admission:

Caste certificate for S.C./S.T./V.J./N.T.-1/N.T.-2/N.T.-3/O.B.C./S.B.C. categories.

Caste validity certificate for S.C./S.T./V.J./N.T.-1/N.T.-2 N.T.-3/O.B.C./S.B.C. categories.

Non creamy layer For V.J./N.T.-1/N.T.-2 /N.T-3/O.B.C./S.B.C categories

Q16: How much is the programme fee?

The MMS Fees during 2020-21 (including the other fees payable to University, Refundable Deposit etc.) is INR 2, 27,840/- for the first year. The fees are fixed as per the fee structure approved by the Fee Regulating Authority (FRA).

Q17: What is the placement assistance/opportunity available to MMS students?

You are most welcome to visit our Training and Placement department (Career and Management Center) to interact and know about the placement scenario of our Institute from our committed and well experienced Training &Placement Managers. A good number of Companies are coming to the campus for the recruitment of our students.

The placement team facilitates the students right from Semester I onward and throughout the First year and Second year with different activities. The students are exposed to experts from the industry who enlighten them and polish their skills according to the industry requirements. The students are also provided with specific workshops and aptitude tests to sharpen their logical and analytical skills before the students proceed with the placement processes. Mock GD and PI sessions are also held for the students to facilitate them in the preparation for the final interviews.

Notwithstanding the numerous activities that are executed by the Training and Placement Team, please note that the onus in getting success in performance at the Interviews lies on the respective students too.
