ISR Activities

Our Institute carries out is Institute Social Responsibility (ISR) activities through the social club “ABHIMAAN” and through its Lifelong Learning and Extension Projects under the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE), Mumbai University.The Institute is guided by Saint St. Francis of Assisi who is the Patron Saint of Ecology for his love for the nature and environment. The Institute also carries out the ethos ‘Service through Enterprise’ of its Founders- Society of the Congregation of Franciscan Brothers which has a strong societal-responsibility dimension in what it does. The VISION and MISSION statements of the Institute, apart from developing students into global business leaders and entrepreneurs, imbibes in its students, faculty and staff a deep sense of responsibility towards the society and the environment.

In order to foster the above, the Institute carried out many activities during 2014 and 2015 and we have highlighted below a few of them:

Abhimaan Club


Visit to Ashadeep (House for AIDS affected children) on 1st December 2014 (World AIDS Day)
SFIMAR Abhimaan Club members along with the Chairman, Director and Faculty coordinators of the Club visited AIDS affected children at Ashadeep, a facility of Karuna hospital. SFIMAR Abhimaan Club student coordinators organized activities for them like drawing, dance and singing programmes. They also played with the children at Ashadeep.

AIDS Awareness Morcha on AIDS DAY 1ST DECEMBER 2014
AbhimaanClub along with Mumbai Jilha AIDS NiyantranSanstha of BMC R North had an AIDS awareness drive where the group walked through the streets creating awareness about AIDS by showcasing banners and shouting out slogans. They also conducted a street play about AIDS to exhibit how it happens and suggesting precautionary and remedial measures.

Blood Donation Camp on FOUNDER’S DAY 19TH NOVEMBER 2014&2015
On the occasion of Founder’s day, “Abhimaan” Club in association with Bhagwati Municipal Hospital, Borivali, Mumbai had organized a Blood Donation Camp. On 18th November, an inspirational talk was given by DrSumeerDembla form Bhagwati hospital to inspire students to donate blood and also to answer any myths that students had about blood donation. The Blood Donation Camp was formally inaugurated by Honorable MLA Smt. Manisha Choudhari and Dr. Shubha Raul, Ex-Mayor, Mumbai in 2014 and 2015 respectively. About 60 students and staff members donated blood and were awarded certificate, batch and donor’s card in both the occasions.

Visit to SwagatDaya Ashram, Haloli 01 Dec 2015
On 01 Dec 2015, in commemoration of World’s AIDS day, “ABHIMAAN” Club organized a visit to the SwagatDaya Ashram at Haloli near Virar. Along with the Abhimaan student coordinators (MMS and PGDM), SFIMAR’s Chairman Brother Alphonse Nesamony, Abhimaan Club faculty coordinator Dr. G Ramesh and adjunct faculty member Lt Col Venkatraman (Retd) also participated. In the ashram, the inmates comprised of 22 AIDS affected children and 21 Elderly persons. The student coordinators organized various games both indoor and outdoor, a drawing competition and also played cartoon videos such as Tom and Jerry etc. The students also organized a cake cutting for the children and for the elderly people present. Towards the end of the program, all the children and the elderly personnel were presented with gifts and shawls respectively. Brother Alphonse Nesamony delivered a vote of thanks and extended his blessings to all those present. The visit was indeed a very memorable one and provided yet another sense of belongingness and fulfillment of our social obligations to the society.

Lifelong Learning And Extension

Besides the above, the Institute is one of the active participants of Mumbai University’s Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) and has received an appreciation letter as the best management institute to carry out social causes such as child abuse, working wmen’s development etc.
