Industrial Visits

Objectives of Industrial Visits at SFIMAR:

  • To gain first hand in depth insight into the industrial processes
  • To undertake a plant tour & study end-to-end business processes

Purpose of Industrial visit:
To enhance the learning graph of management students through industry-academic interaction

Industrial Visit to IPCA Tarapur

The HRM and Operations students visited IPCA Laboratories in October 2017. It was a one day visit in which students visited the plant and were given a guided tour of the entire manufacturing process.The HRM and Operations managers at IPCA then interacted with the students for more than an hour and spoke about the various facets of HRM and Operations.

Visit to Hindalco

The MMS 1 students, accompanied by the faculty members visited Silvassa for their industrial visit, on 6th & 7th November 2017. The students were split into three groups. Each group visited two factories. A total of 5 factories were visited by the students.These are;

  • Alok Industries Ltd
  • Blue Star Ltd
  • Navneet Publications Ltd
  • Sudhir Power
  • Min Toy Pvt Ltd

The students were ushered around the factory premises and shown the manufacturing process of the products.

They learnt the production, operations and HRM aspects related to a factory premises.

Visit to Hindalco

The MMS II HRM and Operations Students and the PGDM II HRM students visited the Hindalco Plant, on 12th September 2014. The Purpose of the visit was to observe the various aspects of Industrial Relations & Industrial Laws connected with the factory premises. Students also got the opportunity to interact with the workers, supervisors and the shop floor manager to learn about the day to day functioning at a manufacturing plant.

Vist to Bangkok & Pattaya, Thailand

International Study tour to Bangkok & Pattaya, Thailand was organized by SFIMAR for its students from 3rd Dec 2014 to 9th Dec 2014.

Objective of the tour:

  • To visit Assumption University and Webster University in Bangkok, to study the education methodology, infrastructure features, levels of students and cultural aspects in the country
  • Visit Gems Factory, Pattaya to study the manufacturing process in mining industry in Thailand
  • Visit places of importance to explore the economic, cultural and social aspects of the country.

The overall coordination of the tour was under the guidance of Faculty coordinators Dr. G Ramesh & Prof. Shilpa Peswani. The exciting trip to Thailand would not have been possible without the support of our respected Chairman Bro Alphonse Nesamony and Director Dr. S.S Mohanty who also accompanied the group with an objective to sign a MOU with Bangkok universities for Students and Faculty exchange programs and other research programs

Domestic Industrial Visit to Nashik, Maharashtra

A one-day industrial visit to Nashik was organized by SFIMAR, for its MMS and PGDM 1st year students, on 24th September, 2015.

Visit to Sula Winery:

  • To understand the procurement process of raw material (grapes).
  • To understand the average time taken to produce wine.
  • To understand the Distribution process from company to retailer (Company has own logistics set up or dealer network).
  • Various Quality Assurance Systems adopted by the factory.

Visit to Samsonite and VIP bags:

  • To study the procurement process of raw materials used in manufacturing of suitcases/ product range produced by the factory.
  • To understand the average time taken to produce the product range and the manufacturing steps.
  • To understand the Distribution process from company to retailer (Company has own logistics set up or dealer network/ Own Stores or Franchisee Model).
  • Various Quality Assurance Systems present in the factory.

The tour was attended by the faculty members who accompanied the group of around 130 students. Lunch and leisure activities were arranged at Paradise Tent Resorts, Nashik, for all.

Domestic Industrial Visit to Jodhpur-Jaisalmer, Rajasthan

A study tour to Jodhpur-Jaisalmer was organized by SFIMAR, for its MMS and PGDM 1st year students, from 26th January, 2016, to 31st January, 2016.

Visit to Metallizing Equipment Co. P. Ltd., Jodhpur
METALLIZING EQUIPMENT CO. PVT. LTD (MEC) was established in 1967 and developed as a leading manufacturer of Thermal Spray Equipment and Auxiliaries. Thermal Spray pro-called metallizing or metal spraying is a surface modification technique – a branch of Surface Engineering. The company caters to various clients like Bajaj, GE, NTPC, JSW, Mahindra, BHEL, Air India, and Crompton Greaves to name a few, in the B2B segment. Students got to learn and understand the end-to-end process of metalizing solutions provided to various companies with respect to engineering solutions.

The tour was attended by the faculty members who accompanied the group of around 130 students.

  • Shopping at local markets at Jaisalmer and Jodhpur.
