The ‘VISION’ of St. Francis Institute of Management & Research (SFIMAR) is to be a chrysalis to every single stakeholder who comes into contact with the life and activity of the Institute. This is what SFIMAR truly is today; a conducive atmosphere with all the infrastructure and facilities for the transformation of youngsters into a highly professional and entrepreneurial class of value based industrial leaders. We at St. Francis Institute of Management and Research are continuously trying to produce quality students by equipping them with modern tools of knowledge and skills so that they can become world class entrepreneurs. Our training methodology is a student-centric approach to fulfill their intellectual, psychological, emotional, cultural, social, physical, spiritual and recreational needs so that they can become not only good management professionals, but also responsible citizens of our country. It is heartening to note that SFIMAR has, within a short span of five years, already come to be recognized as a premier professional college, both in the University of Mumbai and corporate world. The result of our efforts is there for anyone to see; our position in the academic excellence as well as the placement records. SFIMAR has proved itself to be ‘forward looking’ institution. From its inception, the College has a privilege of having a dedicated qualified and well experienced Director Dr. Thomas Mathew, team of Faculty Members, Librarians, Technical Laboratory Personals, Placement Officers, Administrative and Maintenance Staff to cater to the need of the student community.

We are fortunate to be living in the 21st century that belongs to a knowledge driven society, which has ‘quality’ as its defining element. However, the quality of this ‘knowledge society’ depends very much upon the quality of education it offers. Only quality education can make it socially relevant and empowering; if not, the education that is meant to transform human beings for human development can itself cause social problems. Foreseeing the times to come, Winston Churchill said, “The empires of the future shall be the empires of the mind”! Three kinds of revolutions, so to say, shook the world; the first was an agricultural revolution, then the industrial revolution and the third, the most important of all and through which our generation is living, is the knowledge revolution. Major part of the Indian population is below 30 years of age, which means a large student population. They are the real beneficiaries of the present technological boom and want to be very much part of it. Therefore, they do understand the need for higher education and want to get there by all means. Higher education is no more the sole privilege of the elite either; on the contrary, today it is from the middle and lower middle income groups that rush to these institutions. It is important to take note that economic growth theories have emphasized the role of human capital as the key to progress and development. In this process education is the capital input for economic and human resource development. Among various levels of education, higher education has a pervasive and influential impact on the development of the nation. Higher education empowers the individual with the necessary skills and competence for achieving personal and social goals, which in turn contributes to the development of the people in the local and global scale.

Considering the need of the economy and liberalized environment into which our country is moving, “the Society of Congregation of the Franciscan Brothers” is committed through the establishment of St. Francis Institute of Management & Research to continue its core precepts with an entrepreneurial class of postgraduate students and self-actualizing industrial leaders who will create employment opportunities for the unemployed. Secondly the genius and innovation of the youngsters in the technology institutions who have found expressions successfully with new growth areas of the economy will be supported and sustained through appropriate approaches, research facilities and systems in time. Most of all we aim to create a value based set of business leaders who will be equipped to follow high ethical values and operate with concern and care for each other as one human family and the environment. Our primary message is inscribed in the institute’s logo namely “Service Through Enterprise”.

It is our continuous endeavor to scale new heights; in search of excellence in delivering quality professional management studies.
